Philadelphia's farewell to Bishop Cistone will be streamed live on Tuesday

PHILADELPHIA - Cardinal Justin Rigali on Tuesday will lead Solemn Evening Prayer as the Archdiocese of Philadelphia bids farewell to Bishop Joseph Cistone, who was named by Pope Benedict XVI to be Bishop of Saginaw.

Live streaming video from Philadelphia's Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul will be available at http://www.archphila.org/, beginning at 5 p.m.


Bishop Cistone is a native of Philadelphia whose home parish was Our Lady of Consolation in the Tacony section of the city. He served as Vicar for Administration and Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia beginning in 1998. He was ordained a Bishop in 2004. On May 20, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Cistone as the sixth Bishop of Saginaw. He will be installed on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Stephen Church in Saginaw.
